JA Competes at Mu Alpha Theta Math Tournament

Congratulations to the Jackson Academy students who placed third overall in the Mu Alpha Theta math competition last week! The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science has hosted the event for more than 20 years to give students from across the state the opportunity to engage in a competitive math tournament. Thirty JA students from grades eight through twelve traveled to compete against 27 other teams from across the state.

Your Jackson Academy faculty is standing strong in its support of the JA Annual Fund and looks forward to reaching JA’s goal of 100 percent giving before the April deadline. JA Shares the Love for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day started early and went big at Jackson Academy. Families arrived in the carpool line Thursday morning to find a cast of candy hearts, Alice in Wonderland characters, and even cupid welcoming them to campus with gifts of candy roses and other sweets. The event warmed everyone’s hearts and brightened the cloudy day with the love our teachers and staff members have for our students.

An Annual Fund Gift Is An Investment In Students

Not a day goes by that students are not impacted by gifts to the Annual Fund given by parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, and friends. With approximately 88 percent of the school’s operating budget designated for teacher salaries and benefits, additional sources of income is necessary to continue our mission of building a better JA for our students, faculty, and staff.

Alpha and Omega Sends Love Overseas

Each year at JA, kindergarteners and seniors are matched with one another to form a mentoring relationship through the Alpha and Omega program. Their connection is evident when they see each other, often greeting one another with a big hug. Throughout the year they do many activities together. At times they have played basketball together and enjoyed picnics on the football field, but this month things got a bit more meaningful.
