What is an infographic? According to Dictionary.com, an infographic is “a visual image, such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data.” Students in sixth grade literature recently read an article published in Scholastic Scope magazine titled The Truth About Binge-Watching. After reading the article, the students created infographics communicating what they learned about binge-watching.

Jackson Academy is pleased to announce that Anna Katherine Ray, daughter of Martha and William Ray of Madison, is the Class of 2020 valedictorian. Anna Roberson of Ridgeland, daughter of Stacie Roberson and Gary Roberson, is the Class of 2020 salutatorian.

Spring break was one hour away as third graders made their way into the activities building to watch three teams compete in the final round of the third grade coding competition. Lower School STEM Teacher Cliff Powers welcomed family members who joined the audience of students and described the rules of the competition before announcing the beginning of the race for first place.
Jackson Academy announced today that JA freshman Bailey Berry has been named a Jernberg Scholar. The scholarship celebrates JA President Emeritus Peter Jernberg’s significant influence on independent education with the hope that each recipient will, in turn, become an individual who makes an impact on his or her school and community through academics and character.
Monday, JA students joined teachers and fellow students in Google Meet sessions, viewed video devotionals to begin their day, and began working through carefully prepared lesson plans. Technology use in the classroom has been a priority of Jackson Academy for years, and those years of preparation have made the school uniquely structured to make the best of the situation presented by COVID-19. Online learning will be a blended model of new and traditional learning strategies.
Jackson Academy is carefully refining and finalizing plans to keep JA students engaged in their education, while adhering to precautions concerning the coronavirus pandemic. We are coordinating with teachers and developing appropriate methods of distance learning this week and will be prepared to launch effective distance learning on Monday, March 23.
“These are unprecedented times” is a phrase that has been used frequently over the last several weeks. Because we have never experienced a disruption like this before, you and your children may be experiencing a wide range of emotions. These emotions can alternate from elation, to worry, to fear.
