Congratulations to the 2021-2022 Winterfest King and Queen and their court! Dakota Jordan and Ashley Runnels were crowned Winterfest King and Queen during the formal presentation of the court Saturday evening in the Performing Arts Center.
Sharing one campus means so much to the JA family. Yesterday, Book Buddies, a pairing of sixth graders and first graders, enjoyed the sunshine while conducting interviews. Sixth graders queried their first grade counterparts, using questions prepared in advance.
On Friday, fourth grader Emmy Cannady represented Jackson Academy at the MAIS Overall Spelling Bee hosted by Hartfield Academy. Emmy competed in the Lower School spelling bee and the MAIS District Bee before advancing to the Overall Bee.
Varsity and JV basketball teams develop endurance and perfect plays through dedicated practice each week in the gymnasium. On the same campus, second-graders look up to those athletes, envisioning a time when they will play basketball for Jackson Academy.
A stroller. A garment bag. A trash bag. A suitcase. A briefcase. A rolling cart. A wagon. For a fun diversion, seventh and eighth-grade students will have the opportunity to carry their school books and supplies in anything other than a backpack on Wednesday, February 2.

For the third year in a row, the Jackson Academy Lady Raider volleyball program boasts the top player in the state. Junior Lakin Laurendine was named the 2021-22 Gatorade Mississippi Volleyball Player of the Year this past week.
The feeling of being a leader is one of the unexpected aspects of Jackson Academy’s honors band class. Eight band members from sophomore to senior are taking part in an honors experience with many benefits, and not simply the extra three points the honors projects add to their average.
