New Members Inducted to Cum Laude Society

Established to recognize scholastic achievement in secondary schools, the Cum Laude Society has granted charters to only four schools in Mississippi. Jackson Academy’s chapter welcomed many new members in an induction ceremony last Tuesday morning.

Juniors and Seniors gathered under the Big Top Saturday night for the “Greatest Show on Earth!” They had the time of their lives together, experiencing a magical night of dancing, carnival games, and delicious carnival foods.

The Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) M. B. Swayze Foundation has named Jackson Academy seniors Gibson Cheney and Sandon Guild as STAR Students for the 2021-2022 school year. The STAR program encourages and promotes academic achievement among Mississippi’s high school seniors.

Physics Class Wins

Stancie Ley’s sixth-period physics class is now full of award-winning students. Back in October, as part of the physics curriculum, Ley’s class created a Rube Goldberg machine. As a team, they used their physics knowledge of energy, momentum, and trajectory to design and create a working Rube Goldberg machine.

Life Skills Day Prepares Seniors

All year long, Jackson Academy seniors look forward to their Life Skills Day, where they get out of the classroom, learn new skills, and gain new experiences. This program seeks to equip seniors with non-classroom experiences needed for daily living.

Jackson Academy Celebrates Soccer Championship

The Raiders entered the postseason as the No. 2 seed in the Division 1 Soccer Semifinals, advancing to the State Championship Game yesterday. The Raiders won their second straight State Championship beating Hartfield Academy 4-2 for JA’s 10th State Soccer title.

The National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society recognize students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Today, JA inducted 29 Middle School students and 59 Upper School students.

Mississippi Christian Living Leaders Named

Each year, Mississippi Christian Living magazine, in partnership with Belhaven University, recognizes high school seniors as future Christian leaders. We are pleased to announce that three JA students were chosen amongst many other finalists. Regan Felder, Anna Carlisle Nichols, and John Wicks III will be recognized on March 1 at Belhaven University.
