JA Hosts School Finals of National Geographic Bee
Ten students, each already a winner in their grade, stepped onto the PAC stage last Friday to compete in the final round of JA’s National Geographic Geography Bee.
Third Grade Welcomes Audience to Little House
Last Friday, third grade students dressed up as characters from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s book Little House in the Big Woods and performed in the Performing Arts Center. Ingalls books have influenced many avid readers for generations, including the students at Jackson Academy.
Fourth Graders Teach About Mississippi
Everyone who attended the fourth grade Mississippi program knew more about the Magnolia State once they exited the Performing Arts Center Friday morning. The annual program highlights well known and lesser known Mississippi facts through songs and skits.
Hammering Away at Cancer
The JA campus community took action last week to beat breast cancer, making Friday’s pep rally a “Pink Parade,” sponsoring a fundraiser, and offering up-to-date prevention details to faculty and staff.
Chapel Services Give Students Space for Spiritual Growth
Chapels have been considered places of sanctuary for millions of people since the Christian faith inspired their construction. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the school year, our Performing Arts Center and occasionally our gymnasiums become places of sanctuary from the rush of the school year as students gather to learn more about God. Last week, the Upper, Middle, and Lower Schools all held their first chapel meetings of the year.

Jack Milne Teaches History
Head of School Jack Milne stepped back into his role as history teacher last week when he brought to fourth grade classes a 227-year-old deed signed by Thomas McKean, who also signed the Declaration of Independence.
Fourth Graders Apply for Job
The entire fourth grade is on the hunt for a job, and they’ve all applied to the same place: Kathy’s Candy Corner. In January, with help from Lower School Counselor Kathy Sheffield, the students built their applications for a position that recently opened at the fictional store.
After Kosovo, Schade Family Reunites at JA
