The five-time state champion Lady Raiders Volleyball team launched their new season garnering statewide and national attention.
Jackson Academy baseball players are using former Tulane University Head Coach Joe Brockhoff’s Super 8 Hitting System that employs video analysis to hone their batting this year. And, they are going to test out their swings during games scheduled at Trustmark Park February 13 and 18.
Fifty young baseball hopefuls eagerly took turns at the plate at Jackson Academy’s Raider Park. The second through seventh graders were part of a program called Hitting with the Raiders that newly-named Varsity Head Baseball Coach Parker Harris and his coaching staff instituted this year.
The Gatorade Company announced January 13 that Parker Bracken has been named the 2019-20 Gatorade Mississippi Volleyball Player of the Year. Parker is the second Gatorade Mississippi Volleyball Player of the Year to be chosen from Jackson Academy.
The JA Cross Country Team held its awards night on Wednesday, December 4 in the JA Cafeteria to wrap up an exciting season of competition and growth. The evening of food and fun was a great way to celebrate, with dinner catered by Lexington Independents. Members of the team were presented with individual awards.
JA’s Raider Network team produced a live broadcast for ESPN at the NCAA men’s basketball game between Ole Miss and Southeastern Louisiana on December 21. The game marked the second year in a row that Raider Network has been selected to broadcast for the network.
Jackson Academy Head of School Jack Milne announced this morning that Lance Pogue has accepted the call to become the school’s next head football coach, following last week’s announcement by current Head Football Coach Larry Weems to his players that he would not be returning for the 2020-21 school year.
JA volleyball was recognized this past week by the Clarion-Ledger for All State team selections and Coach of the Year. Earlier in November, MAIS named JA players to the All State team and as Player of the Year. At the team banquet, varsity and junior varsity team records were recognized and individual awards were presented.
Ranked No. 1 in Mississippi among public and private schools by Maxpreps, Jackson Academy’s volleyball team captured the state crown and finished with a 43-3 record, undefeated among MAIS schools.
