The Raiders capped off a successful weekend in Madison Saturday night with JA’s tenth MAIS State Basketball Championship as they took home the 6A crown with a thrilling 54-53 victory over Jackson Prep. JA had four players make the All-Tournament Team.
The week that included Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras was so SWEET! Ambassadors and math honor society students welcomed younger students during morning carpool on Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day with festive music, decorations, and costumes.
The National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society recognize students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Today, JA inducted 24 Middle School students and 38 Upper School students.
Students and faculty gathered together for JA’s annual student-planned and faculty-facilitated Black History Month Chapel today, hearing readings and music prepared by current students. They were inspired by the words of alumna Dr. Brett Ball (’11), who helped initiate the plans for Black History Month Chapel during her time as a junior at JA 14 years ago. Today, she spoke about her faith in Jesus Christ and the call, the cost, and the reward of living out a dream.
Jackson Academy’s annual Winterfest took place the weekend of February 10-11. On Friday during the school day, the court and families attended a breakfast on campus before an informal presentation of court members at break.
Over the weekend, Jackson Academy hosted its annual Jackson Academy Show Choir Invitational (JASI) competition. The competition featured elite show choirs from various states vying for the title of Grand Champion.
Alpha and Omega Buddies read “Pete the Cat” together in the PAC Lobby this morning. The seniors each wrote a sweet note inside the cover of the book for their buddies. After reading together, kindergartners took their books home as a keepsake.
In January and February, professional sports photographer and former JA parent Mark Hinkle conducted a photography workshop at JA. Hinkle led four sessions that covered everything from the technical aspects of camera operation to the creative approaches that help photos tell a story.
The Raiders were in Flowood on Monday night as they began their final push to the postseason.
