Homecoming Week was a storybook from start to finish. Students from K2 through twelfth grade celebrated with dress days, pep rallies, and class competitions. The week ended with a 34-0 Raider win and the community celebrating Homecoming Queen Liza Benner and her court.
Former Florida State University and Jackson Academy basketball coach Stan Jones joined the Raiders for Homecoming 2026 in a series of events on October 9. JA’s head basketball coach from 1990 to 1995, Jones was in Jackson to be honored at a Thursday night roast at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. He stayed through Friday to take part in Homecoming, starting with the 10:30 a.m. pep rally.
Current Lower School families filled campus last Tuesday for the Lower School Family Night. Parents followed their children through the halls, visiting classrooms, meeting teachers, and working on crafts together. Special visitors stopped by the STEM lab, tried activities in the gym, and gathered in the courtyard. Being able to show parents what their children have been working on is an important part of the school year, and the evening gave students the chance to explain their projects in their own words. A huge thank you to the all the families who were able to be there!

Coach Stan Jones spent five memorable seasons leading the Raiders basketball program. On Friday, he’ll spend a full day back on campus, from the morning pep rally to the Homecoming game broadcast.
A player who has never kept a scorecard and one who can play 18 holes in competition can both wear Raider blue on the course this spring. Under coach Tyler Freeman, the Jackson Academy girls golf team uses a two-division format that meets each player at her current level.
Homecoming festivities are Friday, October 9. JA will present its court at the pep rally that morning and again Friday evening during the formal halftime presentation, where JA will honor members of the court and crown the Homecoming queen. The game with Magnolia Heights begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Brickyard. Join your friends and fellow alumni at JA’s Homecoming!
Jackson Academy’s Alpha and Omega program held its first meeting of the 2026–2027 school year, and true to tradition, it started with socks. Kindergartners received their own pair of fun and colorful socks before making their way to the amphitheatre, where they searched the crowd of seniors until they found the one wearing the exact same pair. That matching moment marks the beginning of a friendship that will carry both students through the rest of the school year, built on the simple but meaningful idea that the oldest and youngest Raiders belong together.
Jackson Academy was named Best Private School in the Clarion Ledger’s 2026 Community’s Choice Awards. The annual reader poll recognizes the most admired businesses, organizations and people in the metro area, and this year’s win is the school’s sixth.
Jackson Academy senior Sarah Yung has been named a Commended Student in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the recognition this month.
