Several years ago, a group of students felt the call to establish a student-led retreat. That initial retreat has become a tradition at Jackson Academy.
As adults, when we see children misbehave or act out, we often view these situations as opportunities to teach them about different ways to handle conflict or manage crises. In doing so, they learn that although some circumstances may be beyond their control, their reactions and subsequent behavior are not. The overuse of technology by school-aged students is a concern many parents share.
A whirlwind of events made homecoming weekend one of the most exciting times on the JA campus. All week, students dressed in themes leading up to Friday’s Spirit Day and homecoming festivities.
Many grandparents of Middle School students traveled to JA Thursday to get a glimpse of modern school life… and to remember their own school days. They cheered at a JV pep rally where they participated in a Hula Hoop contest.
Congratulations to the Lady Raider Soccer Team for winning the team’s second title in the last three years. They beat Jackson Prep 2-1 in the MAIS DI State Championship.
Alongside Upper School students portraying characters such as Peter, Wendy, and Captain Hook, 18 Jackson Academy Middle School students have roles in the upcoming production “Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure.” The musical is October 21-23 in the JA Performing Arts Center.
One campus yields significant results for mentorships among grades. Our cross country team serves as role models for JA’s Running Club members. Students ran together at The Brickyard while chatting about running, school, and more.
Earning four state championship titles, four state runner-up awards, and other notable recognition created excitement for JA Raiders Wednesday at the MAIS Spirit Competition. The event was held at the Mississippi Coliseum.
Jackson Academy junior Aniya Bradley earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These programs showcase students’ strong academic performance and celebrate their hard work in high school.
On Friday evening, after the band rehearsed for the 2023 Arlington Open Invitational in Tennessee, an unconventional send-off took place. Parents of the 10 senior band students were invited to join the band on Raider Field.
