University Presidential Scholarship Rewards Hard Work

Seniors Brooke Dennis and Law Stanley have been named Mississippi State University Presidential Scholars. Each year MSU gives its most prestigious scholarship to a small number of its most outstanding incoming freshmen who demonstrate excellence in academics, test scores, and high school and community leadership. The scholarship covers their tuition and housing for four years of undergraduate study and significant stipends for study abroad and undergraduate research. The 2025 Presidential Scholarship was awarded to 40 students from a pool of more than 700.

The club aids in protecting and preserving the environment, engaging with its communities through various activities, and learning more about how to become environmental leaders and advocates.

Basketball Game Combines Service and Fun

Coaches, faculty, and staff challenged Upper School students to a game of hoops, and it was a nail-biter! The Student Government Association helped organize the Faculty-Student Basketball Game to support local service projects, such as Education Matters Tutoring.

Last week, JA hosted more than 700 grandparents for a memorable Lower School Grandparents Day celebration. A highlight of the year’s event is the quality time grandparents spend with their grandchildren.

Eddie Wettach Named Incoming Head of School

On behalf of the Jackson Academy Board of Trustees, it is our great pleasure to announce that Eddie Wettach has been appointed Jackson Academy’s Head of School effective June 1, 2025. The Board reached a unanimous decision to select Mr. Wettach after our Search Committee enthusiastically and unanimously recommended him to the Board upon the completion of a comprehensive search led by the committee.

Raiders Win Hoops State Championship

Jackson Academy’s varsity Raiders entered the MAIS 6A State Tournament at Hartfield Academy on February 14. With back-to-back wins under their belt, the Raiders are headed to the Overall Championship at Mississippi College.

Students Reenact the Accomplishments of Others on Famous Americans Day

Students engage in a lot of hands-on learning during Famous Americans Day. They prepare costumes, participate in a parade, and ultimately showcase their famous characters in a wax museum-style activity. This special day at Jackson Academy brings the lives of well-known Americans to the forefront of students’ imaginations. Through this experience, students learn about the contributions of these figures to the country. Stories of brilliance, courage, honor, work ethic, athletic and artistic abilities, and other admirable traits inspire students to reach for the stars.

Theatre Students Perform ‘No Fury’ for Upper School

JA’s theatre department wowed the Upper School with their performance of “No Fury,” an original play by Director of Performing Arts Kerri Sanders. After earning a standing ovation from their peers, the cast now sets their sights on THESCON, where they will compete at the MSU Riley Center in Meridian this Friday.
