Last week, an Academic Signing Day took place for the seniors who are attending colleges and universities throughout the United States. Of the 22 students who participated in this signing day, six students also signed athletic scholarships.
This year’s Lower School Field Day was a great success. The event was hosted on Friday, April 14. Kindergarten through fourth grade students met on the football field for activities that challenged their strength, speed, balance, mind, and endurance.
A group of Jackson Academy Raiders assisted friends in need in Rolling Fork last week. JA parent Austin Barbour worked with the city to connect the JA group with the families who had requested assistance. These particular families had reached out and needed work they could not do themselves.
The Archery Team has had an active season this year, recently winning the 6A North State Tournament in Oxford. The win qualifies the JA team to head to the AIMS State Championship on April 20 at the Kirk Fordice Center at the State Fairgrounds in Jackson.
First grade’s Easter Hat Parade is a tradition dating back more than 20 years. It’s always a fun, creative way for students to begin celebrating Easter, said Head of Lower School Sarah Love. This sweet tradition was virtual for the spring of 2020, but students and teachers kept the tradition alive.
On Wednesday, April 5, many friends and family met in the Performing Arts Center to celebrate the retirement of Head of Lower School Sarah Love. Love’s three children traveled to the event to show their support for the dedication their mother demonstrated through her 21 years at Jackson Academy.
Sixteen Jackson Academy students and two faculty members crossed the Performing Arts Center stage Thursday to receive the Cum Laude Society pin, indicating superior academic achievement.
Jackson Academy is pleased to announce that Bailey Berry, daughter of Heidi and John Berry of Jackson, is the Class of 2023 valedictorian. Dev Sharma, son of Kamini and Anil Sharma of Jackson, is the Class of 2023 salutatorian.
