Dr. Clark Gamblin ’87 believes the body will do what the mind says. The Professor of Surgery and the Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has tested this belief. He will test it again from January 31 to February 6, running seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.

Jackson Academy’s Office of Marketing & Communication received a Lantern Award for its 2023-2024 Student Profile Video Series through the Southern Public Relations Federation. The student profile videos help tell the JA story and introduce prospective families to the types of students who choose JA for their education.
Jackson Academy cheer and dance squads demonstrated their dedicated work and impressive skills at the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Spirit Competition. Held at the Mississippi Coliseum last week, the event invited teams to compete in multiple categories. JA returned with three state championships and a state runner up position, plus several All Stars.
Jackson Academy has long believed that the Alpha & Omega pairings of seniors and kindergartners provide lasting benefits. Sometimes, buddies keep in touch throughout adulthood. Recently, two buddies—Robert Crisler ’16 and current student Caden Callison—reconnected through ninth-grade football.

In educational terminology, virtual reality engages students with learning, increases retention, builds emotional intelligence, fosters creative thinking, and challenges and motivates students. In kids’ terminology, virtual reality is fun.
The JA Band had a little fun Thursday morning by having senior parents shadow their band members during a rehearsal. Parents were asked to participate in the band’s usual performance without prior practice, leading to hilarious mistakes and improvisations.
