K3 students said a bittersweet goodbye this week to very special friends: Bunny, Polly, Nick, Nora, Frankie, Sheffield, and Mr. Pickles. JA’s K3 through Kindergarten students nurtured these friends as caterpillars, marveled as each spun into a chrysalis, and watched patiently for the big transformation.

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler: JA Brings Mardi Gras Magic to Prom Night

JA juniors and seniors took prom downtown in 2026, celebrating at the Railroad District with a Mardi Gras-themed night of music, dancing, and great food. Earlier in the evening, the Railroad District welcomed a younger crowd for Prom Jr., where girls in kindergarten through third grade got their own taste of the magic, dressed up and escorted by their dads and father figures for a special date night of their own.

A Glimpse Into Their Future

Led by dental students, JA Upper School students toured the Human Gross Anatomy lab at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and observed dissections, giving students their first exposure to human dissection in the health professional schools.

Families Share Devastating Stories to Help Others

Two families, along with representatives of the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, and Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office were at Jackson Academy last week for presentations about misuse of controlled substances, such as Fentanyl, recognized in recent years as the leading cause of death for ages 18-45.

The Day A Pigeon Asked to Drive the Bus

New Stage Theatre presented a performance of “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus: The Musical” as part of the theatre’s Arts-in-Education statewide touring program. Kindergarten through second graders were entertained with catchy tunes and wild antics on the JA PAC stage Friday morning.

Cum Laude Chapter Reflects a Culture of Achievement

Thirteen Jackson Academy students crossed the Performing Arts Center stage Wednesday to receive the Cum Laude Society pin, recognizing their superior academic achievement. They joined previous student and faculty inductees of JA’s chapter, one of only four Cum Laude charters granted in Mississippi.
