Jackson Academy Upper School and Middle School show choirs have begun their competition seasons, with two back-to-back exciting weekends of performances.
Jackson Academy held the Scholastic Book Fair each day last week. Students discovered the latest books, journals, and other educational products. The book fair sparks students’ imaginations and ignites their love for reading, which aligns with JA’s start as a school founded to teach reading by phonics.
JA Theatre students traveled to Gulfport January 11-14 for the annually held Mississippi Theatre Association Festival, where schools from across the state converged for competition. The directors and students have been working incredibly hard this year in preparation for this one-of-a-kind theatre event.
As part of its celebration of being a member of this community for 65 years, Jackson Academy will pursue service, events, and creative endeavors throughout 2024. The initial service project to start the anniversary year is a campaign to help local firefighters renovate the station located within the JA neighborhood at Canton Mart Road.
With the conference schedule reaching the halfway mark tonight in Hattiesburg, the Raiders and Lady Raiders are both performing well. The Raiders are still unbeaten in 6A play at 4-0, while the Lady Raiders are sitting at 3-1 in second place.

AP Art students are currently working on their portfolios. JA Art Instructor Susan Ingram invited the instructor and AP Art students from Prep to join JA students Wednesday, January 10, in the Learning Commons for a portfolio “Show & Tell.”
JA students stop by the Tech Center for various reasons, whether it is to ask a question about their school-issued iPad or because it’s a fun place to be as it looks like a real Apple Store complete with a “Genius Bar!” Other times, it is because they actually work there.
