Can you run while carrying a Twinkie on your forehead? Students in ninth through twelfth grades were determined to find out while competing in the Snack Cake Stack ‘Em Relay at JA’s inaugural Clash of the Classes Friday morning. Held in the gym, Clash of the Classes also included Free Throw Knockout, Dodgeball, Blanket Pull Relay, Balloon Pop Relay, Over/Under Relay, Obstacle Course Relay, and Tug of War.
Upper School leaders planned this event heading into Homecoming weekend to bring the classes together for friendly competition and to raise funds for Children’s of Mississippi. Participants exceeded $950 in funds raised for the state’s hospital for children.
Faculty dressed out as coaches and led their students through the varied games. This new event built a lot of camaraderie leading up to the Homecoming pep rally later that morning and as JA faced off with Madison St. Joe that evening.
“The best part of the event was the opportunity to have everyone involved on a special day like Homecoming,” said Head of Upper School Kyle Nichols. “Seeing the student body come together in teamwork and competition was a lot of fun, and I hope this helps continue to build on the positive culture we have in such a great group of Upper School students.”
