Lady Raider Softball travelled to Senatobia for a conference game against #2 ranked Magnolia Heights (16-2) on Tuesday. JA pitchers Ashton Berry and Columbia Holeman shared alternating pitching duties with Berry in the circle for the odd numbered innings and Holeman pitching the even numbered innings. After the Lady Raiders went 3 and out in the top of the first, the Lady Chiefs smashed 4 of their 7 total hits in the bottom of the first inning, with a 3-run home run and a 2-run double mixed in.
JA came right back in the 2nd inning. McKinna Powell, Tyler Pitts and Holeman each tagged a base hit that scored one run each, creating the only 3 runs JA was able to put up all night. Magnolia Heights answered, though, scoring 4 more runs in the bottom of the 2nd. The Lady Raiders couldn’t convert 2 runners in scoring position in the top of the 3rd and gave up 2 runs after getting 2 outs in the bottom of the inning.
Both JA and Magnolia Heights went 3 and out in the 4th. But after the Lady Raiders could not score in the 5th, Magnolia Heights cinched up the win by scoring 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th and reaching the 10-run mercy rule to end the game, 13-3.
