Jackson Academy’s theatre department transformed the Performing Arts Center into an underwater kingdom as Disney’s The Little Mermaid splashed onto the stage for three memorable performances.
Sponsored by Mississippi Sports Medicine, the production ran Saturday, October 18, at 7 p.m., Sunday, October 19, at 2 p.m., and Monday, October 20, at 7 p.m. The spectacular show featured beloved songs and memorable moments from Disney’s timeless tale with a Broadway twist.

Students brought Ariel, Sebastian, Flounder, and the entire undersea crew to life on stage. The production showcased a special element that left audiences breathless—talented actors took flight using the PAC’s state-of-the-art fly system installed by ZFX Flying Effects, adding stunning aerial magic to key moments in the show.
Excitement built throughout the week leading up to opening night. Cast members in full costume greeted JA students in the morning carpool line. Cast also gave K3-5th graders a Sneak Peek performance, along with guests from The Mustard Seed, creating magical moments to meet their favorite characters before the curtain even rose. Cast members appeared on Thursday in full costume on WLBT’s “Today at 11” program to promote the production, giving the community a glimpse at what was to come.

The special Sunday afternoon Under the Sea Meet and Greet event for children 10 and younger sold out quickly, demonstrating the community’s enthusiasm for the production. Families filled the PAC across all three performances, with a completely sold-out show on Sunday.
From Sebastian’s Caribbean rhythms to Ariel’s soaring vocals—literally and figuratively—JA’s production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid created magical memories that brought Disney’s underwater world to the stage.
