A Glimpse Into Their Future

April 7, 2026 / Upper School/All News

Led by dental students, JA Upper School students toured the Human Gross Anatomy lab at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and observed dissections, giving students their first exposure to human dissection in the health professional schools. As part of UMMC Discovery Day, students also participated in a dental school simulation lab, where they used dental composites to craft artificial teeth, similar to how dentists are able to shape teeth. Students practiced the mirror technique with the School of Dental Hygiene. They capped off their tour with talks from the School of Pharmacy and the School of Medicine.

“It was an amazing trip that I will be doing every year that we are able!” said science teacher Jacob Sullivan.
