New Stage Theatre presented a performance of “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus: The Musical” as part of the theatre’s Arts-in-Education statewide touring program. Kindergarten through second graders were entertained with catchy tunes and wild antics on the JA PAC stage Friday morning.
The musical play adaptation of Mo Willems’ popular children’s book introduces students to Pigeon, who tries every trick in the book to get behind the wheel of his favorite bus. The show invites audiences to help stop Pigeon’s antics. Lessons emphasized include the importance of setting boundaries, the power of persuasion and negotiation, responsibility and keeping promises, and the relatable emotions, persistence, disappointment, and self-control.

Education Director at New Stage Xerron Mingo directed and choreographed the musical that was performed by New Stage’s Professional Associate Artist Company made up of Kymbrianna Griggs, Tarvorius K. House, Seth Rodivich, Hannah Beth Rollman, and Michaela Williams.
