Did you know that “foundation” is mentioned 80 times in the Bible? Rising Middle School students and faculty gathered to sign their names and Bible verses on the last beam to go up in what will be the new Middle School. A spiritual foundation is vital to JA, within students, faculty, and the foundation of JA itself. A strong foundation can set a person up for success.
The tradition of signing in the interior of a building is familiar to JA. In 2009, students wrote Bible verses and signed their names on the studs and floors in the Performing Arts Center. “JA students today are literally standing on the Word of God,” said 2008-09 Choral Director Wally Kennedy.
This new construction will add six new Middle School classrooms to the north side of the current Middle School building. The expansion allows for movement of current classes into new square footage. It allows for redesign of original classrooms for lower grades and special subjects through kindergarten.
“It was an honor to participate in the beam signing ceremony for the new Middle School building,” said Head of Middle School Matt Morgan. “The installation of the final beam is a wonderful visualization of what makes Jackson Academy such a special place: an institution that leans on the strong foundation of excellence while keeping an eye toward the possibilities and excitement of a bright future.”
