Congratulations to senior Reese Anderson on her commendation from the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program! Reese is among 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation recognized for their exceptional academic promise. In the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, Reese placed among the top 50,000 scorers in a pool of 1.5 million competitors.
Reese has attended JA since she entered K3, growing from a finger-paint artist to a performer with Jackson Academy Theatre, the school’s show choirs, and the chapel worship band. This academically and artistically talented student also serves as the vice president of our student body and secretary of the International Thespian Society chapter. Between classes and rehearsals, she takes private lessons in voice and guitar and performs with Center Players Community Theatre. When she reflects on her time at JA, Reese says that the caring and involved teachers have helped her to develop her critical thinking skills and writing abilities. In her spare time, Reese enjoys analyzing movies, appreciating the complexities of production and the art form itself. Next fall, she intends to pursue a double-major in theatre and communications.
