Jackson Academy is proud to recognize this year’s STAR students and their chosen teachers: Morgan Cheatham, who selected chemistry teacher Richard West, and Crystal Gao, who selected French teacher Zoubir Tabout.

The Mississippi Economic Council sponsors the Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Program to encourage scholastic achievement among high school students. The program emphasizes academic excellence and honors the teaching profession. STAR students are selected based on earning the highest ACT score in their graduating class, along with other academic achievements, and each student chooses a teacher who made a significant impact on their success. This year’s STAR ceremony will be held on April 9, 2026, at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl, Mississippi.
