Jackson Academy students who placed first in the JA Spelling Bee advanced to the MAIS District Bee held last Wednesday at Jackson Prep.
Louisa Clare Thigpen came in second in the fifth grade category and will advance to the MAIS Overall Bee in January.
Other students who placed at the District Bee are as follows:
- Fourth Grade Bee – Chloe Odom, third place
- Sixth Grade Bee – Paylor Jordan, seventh place
- Seventh Grade Bee – Wade Silverman, fourth place
- Eighth Grade Bee – William Stimley-Brown, sixth place
Fifth grade teacher Nan Dear served as a judge.
