Jackson Academy’s band returned from its Smoky Mountain excursion with three first-place trophies and an abundance of great experiences. The trip centered around the Smoky Mountain Music Festival where the band captured top awards in concert, marching, and color guard categories.
Band members also participated in a parade. “The parade in the snow will be a memory that the kids will have for a lifetime,” Band Director Todd Taylor said.
In addition to performing together, band members took advantage of the attractions of the Gatlinburg, Tennessee area. They visited a wax museum, haunted house, mirror maze, aquarium, mountain go cart roller coaster, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, and Dollywood.
The band’s end-of-year concert is on May 3 at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on campus.
