The Jackson Academy football team received special recognition at the Mississippi State Capitol during a Senate Floor Presentation. Senator Lydia Chassaniol, grandmother of wide receiver Vaiden Taylor, presented the Raiders with a resolution commemorating their 2025 MAIS 4A-DI state championship victory, honoring the team’s accomplishment in front of the Mississippi Senate.

The Raiders expressed their gratitude by presenting Senator Chassaniol with a signed helmet and game ball from the championship season. The gesture acknowledged her support and recognition of the team’s achievement. Head Coach David Duggan, who spoke to the floor as well, and members of the coaching staff, accompanied the team to the Capitol for the ceremony.

Beyond receiving the honor, the visit provided students with a valuable educational opportunity to observe state government in action. Players witnessed how a Senate Floor Session operates and gained insight into the legislative process. The experience allowed student-athletes to see firsthand the workings of Mississippi’s government and understand civic engagement at the state level.

The resolution commemorates Jackson Academy’s tenth state championship in football program history and the team’s 11-1 record during the 2025 season. The Capitol visit adds to a memorable championship year for the Raiders and their coaches.
