DU Chapter Hosts Annual Banquet to Benefit Waterfowl Conservation

November 9, 2021 / All News

The Jackson Academy Ducks Unlimited (DU) Chapter was in full swing last Monday evening as it held its fourth annual chapter banquet at Bridlewood of Madison. Greetings, stories, and hunting tales were swapped for nearly an hour as everyone gathered to view silent and live auction items up for bid along with the evening’s raffle offerings.

From the DU gun and knife of the year to decoys and coolers, there was something to entice every bidder and ticket holder. Several trips were up for auction with the highlight being a hunt for two at Irby Woods compliments of the Patrick Malouf family. Local, state, and national DU representatives assisted with the night’s presentation. JA DU chairman Brooks Magee, Class of 2022, addressed the crowd and thanked the evening’s sponsors and donors before introducing this year’s committee.

The evening’s meal was prepared by Alex Eaton, JA parent and proprietor of Aplos and The Manship, and consisted of a harvest chopped salad, chicken and sausage jambalaya, smoked pork loin with a mushroom wine reduction, and tiramisu. Special thanks and appreciation to all of this year’s sponsors and auction donors and to those dedicated chapter members and JA family members who purchased tickets to this year’s event.

The JA DU Chapter is one of the most noted varsity chapters in the United States and Canada and is currently the top chapter in the state of Mississippi.
