Jackson Academy cheer and dance squads demonstrated their dedicated work and impressive skills at the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Spirit Competition. Held at the Mississippi Coliseum last week, the event invited teams to compete in multiple categories. JA returned with three state championships and a state runner up position, plus several All Stars.
Accents won their sixth straight State Championship in the 6A Kick (Large Division). For their fourth time in school history, they swept the competition, winning their division in both kick and pom. Varsity cheer placed as state runner-up in the 6A tumbling (Large Division). Raiderman took home his third straight championship in the Mascot category.
Congratulations to all members of JA’s spirit teams!

The JA JV teams did not compete this year because the competition overlapped with JA’s October Washington, D.C. trip. The MAIS competition that was originally scheduled for September was moved to October due to inclement weather on the original date.
Jackson Academy spirit teams work year round to help the JA community celebrate athletic events. Their efforts as spirit leaders across campus create positive environments at events and inspire younger students, who look forward to participating on spirit teams one day.
