A signature fundraising event offered by the Jackson Academy Association (JAA), the parent organization of the school, was held Saturday evening at The Country Club of Jackson. Guests enjoyed beautifully presented hors d’oeuvres, live music, and fellowship. Striking holiday decorations made the event a special way to usher in the Christmas season.
The evening included a silent auction that featured creative work by area artists and students, clothing, travel packages, decor, catering packages, collectibles, jewelry, and many other items.
In addition to raising funds, A Blue & White Night (ABWN) fosters community among the families of JA.
“We were beyond happy with the outcome,” said co-chair Rebekah Gregory. “I think it’s important to note that we really came into this managing our expectations in a post-Covid world. When we started planning ABWN literally one year ago next week, we were quick to recognize how hard the pandemic has been on everyone. We vowed to be great stewards of whatever money was donated to us and not to push too hard for funding since we know how many people have faced difficult financial journeys due to Covid. To our surprise, people were incredibly generous and wanted to give back to our school. The JA family really came together for A Blue & White Night, raising substantially more money than ever before.”
JAA President Angie Haraway said that the funds raised through ABWN are invested directly into JA classrooms and teachers. “We have plans to help fund two important projects this year related to performing arts and are also assisting with several upgrades to some heavily used areas on campus,” she said. “Of course, we love showing our appreciation for our awesome teachers and staff and are looking forward to some upcoming opportunities to do that in the coming months.” The JAA provides volunteers and financial support for educational tools in JA’s K3-12 classrooms as well as many other benefits to students and faculty.
“We could not have been more pleased with our sponsorships, ticket sales, and silent auction,” Haraway said. “The participation and support of our JA families this year has been extraordinary and certainly speaks to the strength of our community and school!”
