The Raiders open the postseason this Friday, November 6, when they travel to Flowood to take on Jackson Prep in the MAIS Class 4A Division I semifinals. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the state championship game on Friday, November 13, in Clinton.
A Season to Remember
JA enters the playoffs with an 8-2 record in the 47th season of Raider football. The Raiders went a perfect 5-0 at the Brickyard and outscored opponents 384-134. Their defense posted five shutouts, including a 16-0 win over Alabama powerhouse McGill-Toolen. JA’s only losses came on the road, to Prep and a 28-24 game at MRA.
The Raiders closed the regular season with a 56-0 win over Bayou Academy on Senior Night. Aaric Beasley earned MVP honors with 79 yards and three touchdowns on just six carries, and James Ogden added 77 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, Jaden Walker had eight tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack, and Rett Robinson went 7-for-7 on extra points.
A Senior Tradition
Before the playoffs, the senior football players carried on one of JA’s most beloved traditions. The team treated the senior Accents and Cheerleaders to a special dinner at the Brickyard. It’s the football seniors’ way of saying thank you to the classmates who have cheered them on from the sidelines all season, and it celebrates the friendships the three groups have built over years of Friday nights together.
