Fall sports are in full swing, making now a good time to revisit Jackson Academy’s Code of Good Sportsmanship. As students take the field, court, and course each week, the atmosphere in the stands matters as much as the action on it, and Raider fans are in a position to set the tone. Fans who practice self-control become the role models students notice most. Cheering loudly, celebrating good plays, and supporting our teams make game day fun — and doing so with class makes it memorable for the right reasons.
Let’s let our visitors drive home saying what many already say: JA’s sports facilities and JA fans are the best around.
Jackson Academy Code of Good Sportsmanship
TOTAL TEAM EFFORT
- Promote the ideals of good sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity.
- Cheer for the Raiders, not against the opposition—this includes signs.
- Respect officials and their decisions. Games would not be played without them.
- Win with humility (without boasting); lose with grace (without excuses or finger-pointing); do both with dignity.
- Demonstrate respect for opposing fans, coaches, and team members.
- Realize that a ticket is a privilege to attend an athletic competition and support Jackson Academy activities, not a license to assault others verbally or be generally obnoxious.
- Good sportsmanship should be contagious.
- Self-control is a virtue.
- Be an exemplary role model by positively supporting and encouraging Raider team members and their coaches. Have fun promoting our teams.
- Be a fan… not a fanatic!
- Make good sportsmanship a conscious priority. It is simply the right thing to do.
- Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
