Jackson Academy’s Lady Raider soccer program added another chapter to its storied history, defeating Madison-Ridgeland Academy 2-0 in the MAIS DI State Championship to claim the program’s seventh all-time state title. The Lady Raiders struck quickly and decisively, with Cady Gilmore finishing off an assist from Ella King in the 23rd minute before Izzy Scott doubled the lead just two minutes later, putting the game away before halftime and never looking back. The championship capped one of the most dominant finishing stretches in program history, as Jackson Academy closed the season on 14 consecutive wins with the final nine coming by shutout, finishing with an overall record of 16-4-1. Head Coach Phillip Buffington earned his fifth state championship with the victory, adding a third girls title to his resume alongside two boys titles. Congratulations to the Lady Raiders on a championship season worthy of the standard this program has set.
