The JA Band had a little fun Thursday morning by having senior parents shadow their band members during a rehearsal. Parents were asked to participate in the band’s usual performance without prior practice, leading to hilarious mistakes and improvisations.
Learning how to play an instrument beautifully or twirl and toss a flag or rifle–while following marching patterns without colliding with other participants–are skills developed during band practice. Band parents who shadowed their children learned how challenging these tasks can be.
Band parents are highly involved in the band program. One regular task of parents is to help get band equipment on and off the field promptly during halftime shows since the game times must be strictly observed.
Band Earns Accolades in MAIS Festival
On Saturday, the JA Band showcased its talent and dedication at the MAIS Band Festival. Band members’ hard work paid off, as they earned Superior ratings in each of the four categories. JA received first place for band, first place for drum major, second place for percussion, and second place for colorguard. The festival was held on the JA campus.
Congratulations to all involved in our JA Band!
