On Friday evening, after the band rehearsed for the 2023 Arlington Open Invitational in Tennessee, an unconventional send-off took place. After the first run-through, the band repeated the show. Parents of 10 senior band students shadowed their band member during the second run.
While displaying great attitudes, parents experienced a crash course in the demands of a halftime performance. Parents conducted the performance, played instruments or twirled flags, pretended to play instruments, and scurried after their offspring, mirroring their students’ marching show patterns. The show was a hit with the parents watching from the stands. They now eagerly await their time in the spotlight.
In Arlington, Tennessee, the JA Band earned first place overall in its division, first place Color Guard, and second place in percussion. Congratulations, JA Band, Color Guard, and Drumline!
