January 29, 2019 / Middle School/All News

Eighth grade student Lilly Gebhart earned third place in the Daughters of the American Revolution’s annual essay contest. The statewide competition is designed to encourage students in grades five through eight to research and write about historical events related to a given topic. For the 2018-2019 competition, students were challenged to consider this prompt: “Imagine you are living in 1919 while the women’s suffrage campaigns were having an impact on Americans politically and socially. Discuss the pros and cons of this new [19th] amendment the U.S. Congress has passed.” Lilly and other state winners will be honored at an event on February 15. Congratulations, Lilly!
