All year long, Jackson Academy seniors look forward to their Life Skills Day, where they get out of the classroom, learn new skills, and gain new experiences. This program seeks to equip seniors with non-classroom experiences needed for daily living. Today, students learned how to change a tire, jump off a stalled car, light a charcoal fire, grilling safety, and basic dinner etiquette, including table talk and first impressions. The day was a mix of seriousness and levity, all designed to help seniors prepare for their next steps into the real world.
Students appreciated learning the variety of essential skills that will help prepare them for everyday life. JA parents and alumni who conducted the lessons were Evelyn Harris, Alex Eaton with The Manship and Aplos, Mike Shay with Chevron, and Logan Phillips ’98 with Raymond James Financial Services.
This Life Skills Day puts JA seniors one step closer to the milestone of high school graduation and a bit more prepared to succeed in life beyond JA. Jackson Academy is thankful for a community of dedicated parents, alumni, faculty, and staff that passes along necessary skills to our students and helps them succeed far beyond their high school years.
