The Performing Arts Center was filled with proud smiles and warm applause on Friday as second graders took the stage for their annual program, a heartfelt celebration of the character lessons they’ve been exploring through “Aesop’s Fables.”
Families and students packed the auditorium to watch young learners bring timeless stories to life, from the determined tortoise who showed that “slow and steady wins the race” to the boy who cried wolf and taught the audience that “honesty is a virtue to treasure.” Along the way, students explored themes of perseverance, ingenuity, and integrity, lessons that timelessly resonate beyond the pages of a book.
What made the program especially meaningful was the closing message second graders carried to their audience: that knowing these lessons isn’t enough. It’s up to each person to put the values into practice every single day. As the students made clear in their closing song, “It Starts with Me,” they are up to the task!
