JA sixth graders are studying Canada and recently finished a section on Inuit Indians.   These Native Canadians survived their harsh environment by hunting seal, whales, and walruses.  This part of their culture is captured in sculptures they carve of these animals from soapstone.  Our students tried their hands at carving the animals using soap rather than soap stone.
