Jackson Academy hosted its annual Showchoir Invitational February 6-7 in the school’s Performing Arts Center, drawing elite show choirs from across Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee to compete for the Grand Champion title.
Twenty-six groups representing 17 schools—totaling more than 1,000 show choir members—competed throughout the weekend. JA’s show choirs helped facilitate the event and performed exhibition shows. With capacity crowds for performances on both Friday and Saturday, the Performing Arts team estimated that more than 3,000 people visited campus during the two-day event.

The invitational creates a ripple effect that extends beyond the stage. Students gain valuable experience refining their competition shows through professional adjudication while building friendships with performers from multiple states. The broader community benefits as well, with thousands of visitors filling area hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers throughout the weekend.
This year’s competition marked significant growth for the event, welcoming seven more groups than the previous year. The expanding Invitational reflects JA’s commitment to fostering arts education while strengthening community connections through shared cultural experiences.
