Recently, first graders learned a vast amount of knowledge about potential careers. On Friday morning, parents and students gathered in the Performing Arts Center to see how hard these first-grade Raiders had been working. Special guests at the performance were well-known cowboys, cowgirls, engineers, movie stars, and bakers.
First-grade Raiders are real dreamers and enjoy supporting each others’ dreams. Before the live performance, students had written what they wanted to be when they grew up for a class book. Teachers created a book with everyone’s future dream job for students to read together.
Here are a few of the dreamers’ thoughts:
“When I grow up, I want to be a pediatric surgeon. I will wear a white coat and scrubs. I will drive an ambulance. I will live in a nice house. I will be able to give surgery. It will be fun because I will help people. I will spend my day in surgery or talking to patients. That is why I want to be a pediatric orthopedic surgeon.”- Thompson Scott
“When I grow up, I want to be a jeweler. I will wear a dress with high heels. I will drive a golden Jeep. I will live in Hawaii. I will be able to fix diamonds. It will be fun because you get to see all the diamonds and birthstones. Mine is green. I will spend my day helping people buy wedding rings. That is why I want to be a jeweler.”- Carlyle Albriton
“When I grow up, I want to be an NFL football player for the Chiefs. I will wear a football jersey and pants. I will drive a sports car. I will live in a mansion. I will be able to play football, and it will be fun because I will score touchdowns! I will spend my day every day playing football. That’s why I want to be an NFL football player!”- Robert Kellum
