While students were off campus September 3, Jackson Academy faculty and staff participated in professional development and strategic planning. In the opening session, Scott Barron, chief reinvention officer and founder of The School Growth Company, delivered a motivational speech about the influence of an educator in the life of a young person. He said the No. 1 factor that makes the biggest impact is the “living curriculum” – both faculty and staff – that students encounter.
Using the Serenity Prayer as a jumping off point, Barron touched on adapting to change, taking care of yourself to deliver your best, wisdom and conflict resolution, and continuous improvement. Barron said research shows that parents choose independent schools in part because they desire an environment where faculty and their children’s peers have a positive influence on their children.
