The Gallery of the Performing Arts Center was abuzz Monday with students signing up for roles in their areas of interest. The annual Club Fair is a way for students to learn about organizations they want to join – whether it is Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Chess Club, Interact Club or Outdoor Recreation Club. Each club had a booth with members of the club telling students about the club’s purpose and activities.
Sign-up sheets were very full. Some booths offered QR code sign up, so students were given the opportunity to use their phones during break.
JA’s 20 clubs focus on service, study, professional pursuits, conservation, faith, fitness, reading, artistic interests, and enjoying nature. Three faculty members offer French, Latin, and Spanish language clubs. Clubs at JA include traditional clubs offered by the school regularly as well as student-initiated clubs that reflect new student interests. Students can work with a faculty advisor to propose new clubs during the school year.
It’s not too late for students to sign up for a club. Check out this list for available clubs. If you need assistance, contact Associate Head of Upper School Austin Fortenberry.
