Jackson Academy recognized the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year award recipients during a professional development day assembly held this spring. Each year, one teacher from each division is selected by their peers to receive this distinction.

Students Step Into the World of Beatrix Potter

Each spring, those familiar words open the door to a long-standing Jackson Academy tradition: the Beatrix Potter Tea Parties. Held in the Preschool library, this special event invites K4 and K5 students into the world of “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” with lemon tea, cookies, and carrots served as they listen to the classic story read by librarian Mimi Heard.

Growing in Grace Event Focuses on Joy

JA Preschool Moms enjoyed a morning filled with fun, laughter, and connection at the first Growing in Grace moms’ event in the Performing Arts Center. Nicolet Bell, JA mom and author of the podcast and book “Choosing Cheer, Experiencing the JOY of Jesus in the Everyday and Unimaginable,” inspired moms to seek joy in all circumstances.

Polar Express Sweeps 600 to North Pole

On a chilly Thursday evening, Jackson Academy transformed its halls into a magical wonderland for its Polar Express Preschool Christmas Open House. The air was filled with laughter and excitement as hundreds of children, from toddlers to four-year-olds, eagerly explored the festive scene inspired by one of their favorite holiday movies. Nearly 600 people took a ride on the Polar Express.

On Veterans Day, the entire Jackson Academy community, including students, faculty, and parents, found many ways to show appreciation for those who have served our country and are currently serving. Activities included performances, parades, and classroom activities, demonstrating JA’s collective respect for our veterans.

Hundreds of popular children’s books have been written about “Things That Go” for fascinated young learners. JA teachers brought “Things That Go” out of the books and into real life for JA Preschool students.

A Fun Focus on Football

It was a football frenzy last week at JA as students of multiple ages celebrated the game! First graders got time with their Upper School Football Buddies on Thursday when the buddies visited their classrooms. Varsity players joined first graders for a fun-filled party with food, games, and great conversation. This annual tradition fosters connections between our older and younger divisions. First graders joined their Football Buddies on the field Friday night for the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem to culminate the week.

Retired Preschool Faculty Wowed by Campus Changes

Twelve retired Preschool teachers, who affectionately call themselves the “Out to Pasture” group, gathered at JA on Friday. They enjoyed a fun day of reminiscing about their time at JA and were excited about the many changes that had occurred since their retirement.
