It was a football frenzy last week at JA as students of multiple ages celebrated the game! First graders got time with their Upper School Football Buddies on Thursday when the buddies visited their classrooms. Varsity players joined first graders for a fun-filled party with food, games, and great conversation. This annual tradition fosters connections between our older and younger divisions. First graders joined their Football Buddies on the field Friday night for the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem to culminate the week.
Several grades experienced flag football in the Brickyard. This fall, around 100 players are enjoying flag football, coached by volunteer dads. The teams were organized randomly, with first and second graders making up one set of teams and third and fourth graders making up the other teams. The hope is to introduce football to young Raiders and let them enjoy the early experience of playing at the Brickyard.
Another group of students participated in Run with the Raiders, offered by the JAA through the annual Blue & White Night silent auction. At the beginning of Friday’s varsity game, these students had the honor of running onto the field with the football team.
Preschool also celebrated football with the annual Preschool Football Night, emphasizing the community aspect of a football game. Students played on the playground together, spent time with other families, and attended the football game as a community, watching the Raiders take home a 24-13 win over Lamar School.
