Alpha & Omega buddies celebrated Halloween with a morning of trick-or-treating around campus. Kindergarten students and their senior buddies wore matching masks as they visited offices and stops across campus, collecting treats and enjoying time together.
Just as the buddies first found each other this fall through matching crazy socks, the matching masks made it easy to spot each pair as they made their way around campus. The kindergartners led the way with their trick-or-treat bags and seniors close by, and our faculty and staff helped pass out candy.

Alpha & Omega pairs JA’s oldest and youngest students for the entire school year. Through regular activities like reading together, making art and celebrating holidays, the program builds real friendships between students at very different stages of school. For kindergartners, having a senior buddy builds confidence and makes a big campus feel a little smaller. For seniors, it’s a chance to serve as mentors and reflect on how much they’ve grown since their own kindergarten days.
Many buddies stay in touch long after graduation, and moments like this morning are where those friendships begin. The buddies will meet again throughout the year, ending with a parade together before the seniors’ last chapel in the spring.
