Jackson Academy Celebrates Scholarship Days

Families gathered at Jackson Academy twice last week to celebrate milestone moments for the Class of 2026 as the school hosted Ole Miss and MSU Scholarship Days. The events honored Jackson Academy seniors earning academic scholarships to the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University.

The University of Mississippi

Themes of integrity, work ethic, respect for others, kindness, courage, faith, and enjoying the next step of life were reinforced by special guests speakers Dr. Glenn F. Boyce, the 18th chancellor of the University of Mississippi, Dr. Mark Keenum, the 19th president of Mississippi State University, UM Associate Director of Admissions for Mississippi Recruitment Megan Thomas, and MSU Assistant Director of Recruitment Emily Reeves, who all addressed the Class of 2026.

Mississippi State University

MSU presented 15 scholarships to seniors. A meaningful highlight of MSU’s event was the presentation of two Presidential Endowed Scholarships to recipients Morgan Cheatham and Justina Visgarra. This is the second consecutive year that MSU’s most prestigious scholarship has been offered to two JA students. These highly-competitive, full-ride scholarships cover the full cost of four years of college and include opportunities for faculty-mentored research, study abroad, and participation in a select community of scholars.

A particularly significant moment of the Ole Miss event was the presentation of the Walker Fielder Memorial Scholarship. Former JA parents Allen and Allison Fielder presented the scholarship, established in memory of their son, Walker, to two deserving JA seniors, Crew Hassell and Carter Mathison. In total, Ole Miss presented 43 scholarships to JA seniors.

Jackson Academy is proud of these exceptional students and looks forward to watching graduates thrive as Ole Miss Rebels and MSU Bulldogs.

Students accepting scholarships from other state and out of state colleges and universities will be honored with a Scholarship Day on Tuesday, April 28.
