Dear Jackson Academy Community,
On behalf of the Jackson Academy Board of Trustees, it is our great pleasure to announce that Eddie Wettach has been appointed Jackson Academy’s Head of School effective June 1, 2025. The Board reached a unanimous decision to select Mr. Wettach after our Search Committee enthusiastically and unanimously recommended him to the Board upon the completion of a comprehensive search led by the committee.
The Search Committee cultivated and evaluated a list of over 20 potential candidates for this position, which offered a wide array of backgrounds, qualifications, and experience. While we were pleased with the level of interest in this position by quality candidates, it made the discernment process more lengthy than we originally planned. However, the Search Committee and the Board of Trustees remained fully committed to the process to evaluate each candidate in comparison to the Head of School Profile, which thanks to your help, was created based on survey responses.
We are grateful that God has continuously been present and guided our decisions at each stage in the process. Eddie Wettach became the clear choice for the entire Search Committee and the full Board of Trustees both in comparison to the Head of School Profile and in comparison to other candidates. “Eddie is a man of humility, a person whose values are based on deep faith, and a person that I am excited about being the next Head of School,“ said JA President Emeritus Peter Jernberg, who also served on the Search Committee.
Eddie has been part of the JA family since enrolling as a student in 1990, and he currently serves as Associate Head of School for Operations and Strategic Planning. He is a servant leader that loves JA and is respected in every corner of our campus. As a former Raider Award winner as a student-athlete, he represents the best of the JA culture exhibited by his faith, loyalty, integrity, and wisdom. His experience spans multiple roles on campus, including classroom teacher, basketball coach, and technology director. His leadership has been instrumental in positioning JA at the forefront of innovation, from guiding us to becoming the first Apple Distinguished K3-12th grade school in the Southeast in 2013 to launching the award-winning Raider Network in 2016. With AI and other new technologies poised to transform education, there is no one better suited to lead Jackson Academy into the future.
Eddie and his wife, Brittany, are the proud parents of Kathryn (1st Grade) and Quinn (3rd Grade) with their third child expected this July.
We are grateful for the tireless efforts of the Search Committee, as well as the entire Jackson Academy community, who have supported the search process through their prayers, as well as their participation in other community surveys. We are confident that Mr. Wettach is the visionary and gifted leader who will advance Jackson Academy into its bright future. We also continue to be grateful for the continuing leadership of Palmer Kennedy who has built tremendous momentum for Jackson Academy throughout his tenure. We look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Kennedy and Jackson Academy’s administration and faculty to ensure a seamless transition of leadership.
Our school is on a solid foundation and our missional promise will not change. While we have experienced leadership transitions in recent years, we believe that our administration, alongside the best faculty available, will embrace this appointment and serving alongside Eddie to move JA forward. We are now equipped to enter a period of stability to advance the school for the next generation of JA students and families. Times have never been better to be a Raider!
