Jackson Academy’s Raider Network showcased its broadcasting prowess yet again on Saturday, December 14, at 3 p.m., when it produced the Ole Miss vs. Southern Miss men’s basketball game on SEC Network Plus. The production team included 18 crew members, featuring current students, eight grader, Knox Seward, and senior, Alexander Barrera, alumni Walker Lake ’23, Samuel Long ’23, and Matt Hinkle ’03, as well as staff members Josh Hinkle ’15, Eddie Wettach ’03, and Bryan Eubank. This marks the Raider Network’s fifth broadcast for an ESPN platform, further cementing its reputation as one of the premier high school broadcast programs in the nation.
The game took place at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, in collaboration with Ole Miss and the SEC Network. Working alongside industry professionals and using state-of-the-art equipment, students gain insights into the fast-paced world of sports broadcasting while representing Jackson Academy on a national stage.
These events not only serve as educational opportunities but also highlight the Raider Network’s self-sufficiency. By taking on contracted events like this one, the program generates enough revenue to cover all its operating expenses, including equipment and personnel, without using tuition dollars. Additionally, the Raider Network consistently contributes surplus funds to Jackson Academy’s general operating budget, directly benefiting the school community.
The Raider Network’s partnership with organizations like ESPN showcases the program’s commitment to excellence and innovation in broadcasting. Each production is a testament to the talent and dedication of the students, alumni, and staff who continue to raise the bar for high school media.
