Over the next few weeks, JA’s talented theatre students will partner with enthusiastic second and third graders to create something magical for the upcoming “Christmas With the Arts” event on December 9. Upper School Theatre Competition students introduced the project—crafting original elf characters —in classrooms last week. Brimming with excitement, students set to work on creating Santa’s Favorite Elves. The theatre students encouraged them to think outside the box. The outcome will merge the youthful energy of second and third graders with the theatrical flair of their older counterparts.
This week, theatre competition students will choose winners and then write monologues as elf characters. Second and third graders will record voice overs with Technical Director Andy Prince in the recording booth of the Performing Arts Center.
Finally, on December 9, at “Christmas with the Arts,” the theatre competition students will bring the winning elves to life on stage. This unique collaboration in its second year highlights the artistic talents of all involved. It fosters a sense of community and joy that will be remembered long after the final bows.
