Students who’ve qualified as National Merit Semifinalists know what it takes to generate excellent academic work. Yet along with high scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, semifinalists at Jackson Academy show that an individual can be a scholar and a well-rounded person, too.

“What I like best about this group of students is the wide ranging activities that they are involved in aside from being top scholars,” said Steven McCartney, Upper School Dean. “There is a football player who is also in the show choir, an Accent, and a girls’ basketball player. This highly accomplished, well rounded approach truly represents what we hope for all of our students at Jackson Academy.”

Middle and Upper School report cards

Middle and Upper School parents & students: report cards will be available online beginning Thursday, October 17, after school.

PSAT/NMQT Testing

Students in ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade will be taking the PSAT/NMQT on Wednesday, October 16th. Students need to be well rested and come to school focused for this important test. To provide proper testing accommodations for both space and proctors, seniors will be excused from school for the day. Students who take the PSAT will be dismissed after testing.

Schedule for Wednesday, October 16, 2013:

Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Grade: 7:55 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Seniors: No School

Supervision will be provided for students as needed after testing.

Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce Junior Diplomat Program

The Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce Junior Diplomat Program is now in its 11th year. The program brings together students from area high schools and introduces them to business opportunities in our city as well as involving them in various community service projects. Two Jackson Academy students, Caroline Burford and Eliza Lundy, were chosen as Junior Diplomats out of 24 students selected for the 2013-14 program.
