The JA volleyball team finished their season with a 2nd place spot in the MAIS. The team was 26-6 for the year, with 9-1 in the conference. They also were the JA Varsity Invitaional Champions. Players Beaty Hill, Taylor Hodge, Hannah Wootton, and Conley Chinn were named to the All State Volleyball Team.

Third Thursdays

Third Thursdays

Please join us for informal parent workshops offered to help with a variety of “hot topics” faced by parents and students today. Feel free to bring your lunch or just come listen and learn. Each session will last one hour and will be held in the PAC (Black Box Theatre). The Third Thursday workshops are free of charge and are all scheduled from 12-1 p.m.

Congratulations to the Band

Band at the Clinton Arrow Invitational

Congratulations to the JA Band for an exceptional performance Saturday, October 5th at the Clinton Arrow Invitational. The band earned the following awards:

Class 4A: First Place Band, Music, Color Guard, and Visual Effect

Overall: Third Place (First Place Petal HS, Second Place Germantown HS)

Music and Visual: Second Overall

General Effect: Third Overall

Thank you to the parents who helped all weekend. Special thanks to all the FIELD CREW members – this show would not make it onto the field without them – and to Charlette Oswalt and Jamie Niemeyer for organizing meals for the students.

Students at JA have abundant ways to build a rewarding life found in serving God and others. Chapel, Bible elective, mentoring, service, and initiating small groups are opportunities students can find here. Chaplain John Hugh Tate sees potential for students to develop additional mentoring and small group relationships in the JA community, too.

PSAT/NMQT Testing

Students in ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade will be taking the PSAT/NMQT on Wednesday, October 16th. Students need to be well rested and come to school focused for this important test. To provide proper testing accommodations for both space and proctors, seniors will be excused from school for the day. Students who take the PSAT will be dismissed after testing.

Schedule for Wednesday, October 16, 2013:

Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Grade: 7:55 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Seniors: No School

Supervision will be provided for students as needed after testing.
